On Budapest
Budapest lies in the centre of the Carpathian Basin in Europe, on
both sides of the river Danube. It has an area of 525 square km. Its
population of about 2 millions is 20 per cent of the country's total
inhabitants. Budapest is the only metropolis in the world, where
there are more than 130 thermal springs and wells. The twenty public
baths of the city — ranging from Turkish and wave baths, over open-air
swimming-pools and
hydrotherapeutic establishments to spa hotels — offer a wide range of
services. Average yearly temperature in Budapest is 11°C, with a maximum
of 22°C in July and a minimum of -1°C in January. Average yearly rainfall
is about 600 mm.

- Currency
Official currency of the country is Hungarian Forint (HUF). Most foreign currencies can be converted in banks, hotels or exchange offices. International credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.
Exchange rate is: 1 EURO = 293 HUF as of May, 2013.
- Passport and visa
A valid passport and/or identitiy card is necessary to enter the country. Visas may be required for some foreign citizens. For specific information, please contact the nearest Hungarian embassy at least six weeks before your departure to Hungary.
