The loss of Jiri Cizek

Member of the Honorary Board, Professor Jiri Cizek, passed away on Christmas Eve, 24 December, 2024. He was 86.

An obituary can be read on the webpage of the University of Waterloo, Canada, where he was professor emeritus, see here .

An interesting and detailed analysis entitled 'The life and work of Jiri Cizek' was written by Prof. Ajit Thakkar ten years ago (AIP Conf. Proc., 1642, 138–149, 2015). The paper contains touching photos, a short CV, and a comprehensive list of scientific papers of Cizek till 2010. It can be downloaded from Researchgate .

Jiri was a great scientist, contributing fundamental results to quantum chemistry, like coupled cluster theory or resummation of divergent perturbation series. Besides, he was an exceptional human being, and a true friend of many of us. He supported our Society, was a highly active participant of several triennial ISTCP conferences.

We shall miss him very much.
